Facilities Maintenance Worker Job Description
Job Summary:
Performs a variety of building maintenance duties. This position normally follows established routines and will also respond to unusual situations or matters requiring immediate attention. This position reports to the facilities supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains, repairs, and facilitates the repair or replacement of assets within Town-owned facilities. Assets include but are not limited to the following: residential and commercial appliances, electrical fixtures, plumbing fixtures, HVAC equipment, building exteriors, doors and hardware, windows, interior paint and drywall, etc.
- Assist with snow removal duties associated with Town properties
- Perform duties as needed for various Town-owned facilities including public restrooms. Duties include dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, trash removal, cleaning and restocking of bathrooms.
- Identifies and implements corrective measures related to day-to-day building maintenance.
- Utilizes Town work order system to prioritize work and duties
- Assists with construction and facility maintenance functions as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Utilize tools required for cleaning, building maintenance, and construction tasks
- Operate light-duty equipment safely and effectively
- Understand and follow both oral and written instructions
- Identify and complete necessary repairs
- Proficient with computers and related software
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public
- Walk for extended periods under varying conditions
- Work independently without close supervision in standard situations
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Contribute effectively to the achievement of team goals, objectives, and activities
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Colorado Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
Background Investigation:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive education/experience background investigation and a criminal history record check.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
While performing the essential duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to handle, feel, and operate equipment, and to communicate effectively. The role frequently involves standing, walking, sitting, and reaching with hands and arms. It may also require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees in this role must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to see clearly at close and long distances, distinguish colors, and adjust focus as needed.
The work environment may involve exposure to light-duty cleaning supplies and associated odors, moving mechanical parts, and occasionally working in high or elevated areas. The typical noise level is moderate.
