Getting Around Crested Butte
There are lots of options to get around Crested Butte, and you can easily do it without a car! Our awesome transit systems can get you not only around town, but to Mt. Crested Butte, CB South, Gunnison, and even Denver. Crested Butte is just about one-square mile, so almost anywhere you go is walking or biking distance. Did you bring your electric vehicle? In Town Transportation
Mountain Express is our in-town and inter-mountain transit for getting you around Crested Butte and up to Mt. Crested Butte! The iconic, painted buses come every 15 minutes to several stops around town, and the bus heads right up to the base area of Mt. Crested Butte. Regional Transportation
The Gunnison Valley RTA (regional transit authority) buses can take you from Mt. Crested Butte all the way to Denver, if you need! Many locals use their comfortable, coach buses as their main commuting method to get up and down the valley from Gunnison to Mt. Crested Butte. Visit the Gunnison RTA website for the most up to date bus schedules! Schedules vary seasonally.
Electric Vehicles & Charging
Crested Butte has a number of public charging stations around town, see map to the left.

Level 2 Charging:
- 6th & Elk Level 2 Charging Station (1 station, 2 cables)
- located on the west side of the tennis courts as you drive into town.
- 1st & Elk Level 2 Charging Station (1 station, 2 cables)
- located in the public parking lot on the far west side of town at the end of Elk Ave
- Town Hall Level 2 Charging Station (1 station, 2 cables):
- located on the west side of Town Hall**.
- **We often see people confuse these chargers with the Level 2 charging on the south side of the library. These chargers are reserved for our Marshals. You'll know you're in the right place when you're facing the baseball field! Please note that no overnight parking is allowed from Oct-May for snow removal.
- Clark's Market Parking Lot Level 2 Charging Stations (2 stations, 4 cables):
located on the northeast end of the Clark's parking lot.
Level 3 Charging (DC Fast Charging):
- Crested Butte Fire Station DC Fast (Level 3) Charging Station (1 station, 2 cables):
- located on the east side of the Crested Butte Fire Department building.

Gunnison Valley Electric Association (GCEA) is offering several rebates for electric equipment purchases. Qualifying purchases range from electric appliances, lawnmowers, and EVs! Visit their rebates page see how much money you can get back by choosing electric!

- $4,000 - $6,000 towards a new or pre-owned vehicle for Colorado's Vehicle Exchange Program, Colorado Energy Office
- up to $1,000 for used EV, GCEA
- up to $1,250 for residential EV charging equipment and installation, GCEA
