Utility Billing Transfer
The Town of Crested Butte provides water, sewer, and trash/recycling services to residential properties.
The property owner must complete and sign the Change of Utility Billing Party form. Once processed, the tenant will begin receiving a monthly utility bill, which is issued on the last day of the month following the service start date.
Change of Utility Billing Party Form
Please note:
- The Town does not prorate utility bills. Therefore, all service start dates must be on the 1st of the month.
- If the completed form is received after the 20th of the month, the utility service start date will be deferred to the 1st of the following month.
- When you change utilities into a tenant’s name, you authorize the Town of Crested Butte to bill your tenant for utility services. However, under the Town Code, the property owner is ultimately responsible for payment. Should the tenant fail to keep the account in good standing, the Town reserves the right to charge the property owner. The charges may include discontinuation of services, fees, and/or liens against the property. It may be to your advantage to periodically check the status of this account to ensure regular payments are being made.
- Businesses receive water and sewer services only. Trash must be set up through Waste Management by calling 970-349-1032 Option 3.
