Rates, Fees, and Discounts
Overview
The Town of Crested Butte provides monthly utility billing for water, sewer, and trash/recycling services.
- Meters are read around the 22nd of each month
- Bills are issued on the last day of each month. If this falls on a weekend, bills will be issued the following business day.
- Payments are due on the 20th each month.
- Late payments are subject to a 3% monthly penalty and additional fees

*An EQR (Equivalent Residential Usage) is the amount of water and sewer used by a standard residential unit of 1875 square feet.

Discount Program
The Town of Crested Butte offers a Senior Rate Discount to help make living in town more affordable for eligible residents. This program provides a 50% discount on the base rate of monthly water and sewer service charges.
Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify for the discount if you:
- Are a current resident and utility customer of the Town of Crested Butte
AND meet one of the following criteria:- Are 62 years or older and have lived in your primary residence in town for at least 10 years
- Are permanently disabled
- Are enrolled in a state or federal financial assistance program

- Complete the application form
- Submit your application and supporting documents by:

Important Dates
- Applications must be received by the 20th of the month for the discount to be applied to that month’s bill.
- If received after the 20th, the discount will begin on the following month’s bill.
