Adopt-A-Bench Program

Honor a loved one.
Share your memories.
Support Crested Butte parks.

The Adopt-A-Bench program offers a meaningful way to honor loved ones and celebrate memories of Crested Butte, while enhancing our parks and public spaces.

A $1,000 tax-deductible donation provides a locally made 6'x2' steel-frame bench crafted by ACD Metal, with custom wooden slats from our parks crew. All benches follow a standard design for durability, maintenance, and seasonal storage. Each bench allows for an 8”x4” engraved brass plaque, mounted on the backrest.

To adopt a bench, complete the application form and return it to: recreation@crestedbutte-co.gov

Bench Locations

Please review the Bench Locations Map. Benches are placed seasonally (June–September) and removed in winter for snow management. While we do our best to honor placement preferences, specific locations are not guaranteed. Benches may be moved as needed; we will notify donors when possible, so please keep your contact info up to date.

Longevity of Adoption

The donation includes installation and maintenance for 10 years. To renew, donors must contact PROST before the term ends. If no renewal is received, plaques may be removed.

Plaque Details

Donors are responsible for ordering their own plaques. Requirements:

  • Material: Engraved or etched metal, 8"x4", 1/16" thick
  • Design: Text only (no images), screw holes in each corner
  • Approval: Email a proof to recreation@crestedbutte-co.gov before ordering

Benches are typically installed 6–12 weeks after plaques are received, depending on production and workload. Work directly with your vendor for design, cost, and timing questions.
